The Washington Technology Industry Association (WTIA) has appointed Kristen Forecki, a seasoned leader in the Seattle tech scene, as the new chair of its board of directors.
Forecki, who currently holds the position of senior director of experiences and device strategy at Microsoft, brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
Prior to her role at Microsoft, Forecki has held key leadership positions at other prominent tech companies in Seattle, including Convoy, Rover, and Amazon.
Her academic achievements include a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Forecki’s involvement with the WTIA board dates back to her appointment as vice chair in 2021.
In her new role as chair, she succeeds Dave Cotter, a well-known figure in the Seattle startup community, who will continue to serve on the board as chair emeritus while pursuing his own initiatives in the form of an advisory firm.
Not only does the WTIA function as a nonprofit member trade association, but it also runs a nonprofit tech apprenticeship program and a for-profit corporation that provides essential business services.
A recent milestone for the organization includes receiving a $300,000 grant from the Washington state Department of Commerce, aimed at enhancing the technology ecosystem in the region.
